Reason Number 1659341 Why I Love My Husband

He was up and shoveled the walkway and driveway, put salt down, started my car and cleaned all the snow off all before 6 am.

Man I'm a lucky lady!

worn out

No, not her... ME! I know that super cute little bundled up adorableness looks sooo sweet and innocent, but let me tell you my friends, looks are definitely deceiving on this one!

Let me start off by saying that I am head over heels in love with my kid. She makes me want to be a better person and work harder so I can give her everything that she wants/needs. I love our little talks in the morning, and think it's cute how excited she gets when I lay her down and she knows I'm going to change her diaper lol I don't even mind being tired all. the. time. I'm actually kind of getting used to it, surprisingly!

That being said... she is a difficult baby. If she is awake, you must give her all of your attention... at ALL times. I have become a master at cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, and paying bills one handed. She knows exactly how to get what she wants too. It's funny how much she can make me do... I almost feel like I'm her little puppy and she has trained me with commands to sit, stand, rock, sway, feed, change, walk, bounce, and many more. It's just super tiring to never get a break. I can maybe get away with 10 minutes with her in her crib, but it just depends on the day. Most of the time Pat or I is holding or playing with her from the time we get home till the time she goes to bed. It's exhausting... By the time she goes to bed, I want to go to bed so I feel like I never get any 'grown up' or 'me' time!

It sucks.... but... I wouldn't have it any other way. I was talking to my mom the other day about how difficult Kimber is sometimes and told her I am really glad our first is this way, because now this is the behavior I expect if we have another. I feel like if we had an easy going baby for our first one, I would really struggle if we have another and he/she is challenging. I just keep telling myself that this will pass, as everything does, and to cherish everyday with her because at this age, they are growing and changing so quickly. I can't sit and dwell on how exhausted I am because then I might miss something great she's doing.

Boo is what I say to work!

So as pretty much everyone knows, today was my first day back at work and it was a disaster.

First, Kimber did great last night. We got up at midnight and 4 am but at 4 I just brought her in bed with us b/c I was getting up in a hour and didn't want her to get used to getting up at 4 to eat. I'm impressed she didn't wake up more considering the poor thing can't even breath! I got everything ready to go and woke little miss up at 5:40, we ate, changed and were to grandma's house by 6:30.

I get to work and can't log in to my computer. Like you know how you do ctrl alt delete to lock your computer? Yeah, well I couldn't log in, period. I called the (so called) help desk and she informs me that I've been deleted from the system so she cannot reset my passwords... great. I have no idea how long it will take for me to get all my systems back and new passwords. So I spent all morning sitting with someone and then all afternoon I was notarizing documents.

Finally it was 3:30 and I was off to pick Kimber up from my mom's. I had envisioned her big smile all day as I walked in the door... but that wasn't what I was greeted with. She was pretty much indifferent to my kiddish squeals and funny voices, ugh, such a stubborn child :)

I feel like I don't have any time with her at home now. I'm rushing around trying to get the house picked up for the MIL to come watch Kimber tomorrow. I'm trying to get dinner made while making sure the dishes are getting done and laundry is getting put away. I found myself rocking her tonight long past when she fell asleep. I miss being able to cuddle with her any time of day but I don't have a choice right now, and I've come to terms with that fact.

2010

Holy amazing year!!!

January - 15th to be exact, I found out I was pregnant! Obviously, this was also the day I quit smoking.

February - We met the baby! I had my first doctor appointment and internal ultrasound to see our little blob.

I also turned 23! Pat took me to the Science Center to see Under the Sea. It was super neat, I had only been there one other time and forgot how cool watching movies there is. For Valentines Day he took me to Walk with the Penguins at the Zoo. It was sooo cool! They come right up to you! It was amazing. He also bought me a piece of penguin art.
They actually let the penguins walk in the paint and then walk across canvasses. This is probably one of the neatest things Pat has ever done for me!

March - We celebrated our first wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything too exciting since we were broke (you'll see why in April).

April - We bought our first house!!!!

And oh yeah...
IT'S A GIRL!!!

May - We took a trip to Ikea and bought Kimber's furniture, our bedroom furniture, and furniture for Pat's office for less than $1,500. Not too shabby!
The in-laws took us to Mexico for my mother-in-law's birthday. We went to Tulum to see the ruins and we also swam in a cenote  (underwater cave). Pretty neat (even though I was 5 months pregnant and spent the entire week sweating lol)

June - We finally got our $8K for the first time home buyers and went out and bought a kitchen table and chairs, couch and loveseat, and a 46" Samsung LCD TV with matching surround and Bluray player. Oh and we also switched to Verizon and got the Droid X.

I HAD to have this couch since it had a chaise. My feet were sooo swollen so it was nice to be able to prop them up, per dr's orders.

Less exciting, but still just as important, we got carpet for the bedrooms and re-did everything. We painted all three bedrooms, put in new trim, bought new blinds, and got white 6 panel doors. Pat's dad also hooked us up with ceiling fans since none of the rooms had ceiling lights (which I still don't understand why they make houses without them!), and Pat replaced all the outlet covers and light switches with nice new white ones. Whew, a lot of improvements!

July - Pat's 25th birthday! Woohoo insurance deduction! LOL I took him to Yellowstone Cafe and then out to see a movie.

August - I had my first baby shower!

That next week Pat's grandpa passed away. We are sad he didn't get to meet his granddaughter but know he's in a better place and is no longer suffering.
RIP Marvin

My great grandma was also in and out of the hospital and was diagnosed with failure to survive... not cool! She's a fighter and is still with us and I am thankful for everyday she's here.

September - Kimber arrived! And we got her newborn pictures taken.

Nuff said for this month!

October - I was back in the hospital the week after giving birth. My c-section had gotten infected and I pray that I don't ever have to go through that again!
We visited Jon in Ottawa to see him play baseball, and Rae play soccer.
I had a baby shower with Pat's side of the family.

November - Kimber had her first shots at her two month doctor appointment. I'm pretty sure it was as tough on her as it was on mommy! Those shots were no fun!
We celebrated our first Thanksgiving with Kimber and realized that carting around a two month old between families is no fun and totally messes up schedules!
I was given the 'all clear' from my doctor after the infection.

December - My last month of maternity leave, and I'm so sad to be going back to work!
Christmas with our new addition.

And ended the year with a new tattoo.

2011 has some HUGE shoes to fill!

Hoot Hoot

A night owl for my little night owl, Kimber.

Mommy loves you baby!

Christmas Day

We woke up bright and early Christmas Day with Miss Kimber-lena, and set out breakfast for the family.

Cookie Dough Cupcakes, Blonde Brownies, and Gooey Butter Cookies... delish!!!

Since we have the baby my mom, step dad, brother, sister and step brother came over Christmas morning at 7:30 and we passed out the presents.

Kimber made out pretty well:

She got leg warmers (5 more pairs), toys from grandma, a couple clothes, and this super cute birth announcement print I bought off etsy from Color Bee:

I think her favorite thing that morning was her sock monkey though.

I got Pat his cologne, a hunting bag he wanted, and the new Deftones cd... he also got a couple movies from my mom.

Pat got me a gift certificate to Trader Bob's, Twilight and New Moon movies, and ear buds for my phone for when I go back to work. My mom got both of us a Wii!!! And she got me Donkey Kong which I'm super excited about... even though I super suck!

The family left and we put Kimber down for her nap so we could clean the house before going to the in-laws. Before we left I snapped this picture:

The brother-in-law's g/f had to go to TX for her family for Christmas, and thus, sadly, she wasn't with us :-( I just wanted her to know we were thinking of her... while she was soaking up the sun lol

We changed little miss and headed over to the in-laws.

Kimber, again, made out pretty good. She got her pink car walker we had registered for, an outfit, and a white noise bear. I was super excited to get a new camera so I can take better pictures. It's just a point and shoot but it's much better quality than my phone pictures. I was also happy to get Despicable Me... I had actually rented it because I wanted to see it so badly and ended up falling asleep, so I was happy to be able to see it in it's entirety... any time I want!

After presents we visited for a while.
Papa talking to Miss Kimber.

Playing with Uncle Jon.

Ready to go home!

We made our way home, watched Despicable Me and went to bed. The next day we went to my mom's to see my step-dad's side of the family. It was pretty uneventful but I had fun playing with the babe.

Sitting up... with help from the couch.

Playing with the Elephant Daddy got her for Christmas.

I think it's going to be hard to top this year's Christmas since it was Kimber's first, but I know that next year when she is actually excited about opening presents it's going to be ten times more fun! Ahhh I can't wait!
